48 UCSF Researchers Are Honored for Their High-Impact Science
Nearly 50 UC San Francisco researchers have been named to Clarivate’s list of most influential scientists for 2024.
The ranking is based on journal article citations from the last decade. It starts with all the researchers whose publications ranked in the top 1%. An expert panel then winnows it down to the top 0.1% of all scholars.
UCSF’s scientists were among the most cited researchers in biology and biochemistry, clinical medicine, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology and genetics, neuroscience and behavior, pharmacology and toxicology, and social sciences.
Two dozen of these UCSF scientists made research contributions that spanned several of Clarivate’s 20 essential fields, and they were listed as being “Cross-field.”
The U.S. continues to lead the world with 2,507 Highly Cited Researcher awards, accounting for 36.4% of the total. California has 552 influential scientists, almost as many as the United Kingdom.
