US News Ranks Medical and Nursing Schools in Top 10
UC San Francisco’s medical and nursing schools are among the best in the nation, according to the latest rankings from U.S. News & World Report’s Best Graduate Schools.
UCSF’s School of Medicine remains the only school that is ranked in the top five for training in both research (tied for 5th) and primary care (5th). The UCSF School of Nursing was ranked 10th.
UCSF also placed 9th in a rating of diversity, joining three other UC medical schools near the top of the U.S. News list: UC Davis (3rd) UC Riverside (5th) and UCLA (13th).
The survey ranked eight specialty training areas, and UCSF was among the top five in all of them. UCSF was 2nd in surgery; 3rd in family medicine (tied), internal medicine and radiology (tied); 4th in anesthesiology, obstetrics and gynecology (tied) and psychiatry; and 5th in pediatrics.
UCSF’s School of Nursing’s master’s program ranked among the top five public nursing schools and 10th overall. Two specialties ranked in the top five nationally: adult-gerontology acute care and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.
