UCSF Health Affiliates with Circle Medical for Primary Care
Collaboration Expands High-Quality Primary Care Options for Patients
UCSF Health has signed an affiliation with Circle Medical to provide top-quality primary care in the Bay Area. Through the agreement, co-medical directors from the UCSF Department of Family and Community Medicine and from Circle Medical will work together to improve access, outcomes and patient experience.
The affiliation will launch with two clinics, on Divisadero Street and in downtown San Francisco, and is expected to expand quickly into a network throughout the Bay Area. Clinics typically will be able to accommodate same- or next-day appointments, with no membership fees, and will accept most insurance plans.
“Finding high-quality primary care close to work or home can be challenging in the Bay Area,” said Kevin Grumbach, MD, chair of the UCSF Department of Family and Community Medicine. “This affiliation will expand patients’ access to the quality of care they expect from UCSF Health, from a medical group committed to adoption of new technologies to improve the patient experience.”
The affiliation with Circle Medical is the latest in a series of recent agreements UCSF Health has made to improve patients’ access to the full range of integrated, high-quality health care – from primary or urgent care to subspecialty expertise – throughout the Bay Area.
“Primary care consumers expect healthcare providers to deliver a more modern and digital experience in 2020,” said Tom Ronay, MD, medical director at Circle Medical. “By affiliating with UCSF Health, we can meet these expectations while ensuring our patients are receiving top-quality medical care within a growing, integrated health care network.”
Circle Medical is a modern primary care practice that treats patients via telemedicine and in person at its network of clinics in the Bay Area. Patients can use a mobile app to communicate with their provider between appointments, manage their medical records and receive personalized preventive care recommendations. Circle Medical’s proprietary software platform delivers a streamlined experience, allowing primary care providers to spend more time with patients.
In the past few years, UCSF Health has affiliated with a number of Bay Area providers, including Golden Gate Urgent Care (now part of GoHealth), John Muir Medical Group, One Medical and Prima Medical Group.
