With the Chase Center opening this September and more than 18,000 people expected to visit the new arena for 89 at-capacity events per year, Campus Life Services has launched a new website to help the UCSF community proactively plan their commute and navigate the increased traffic congestion.

“We anticipate that our extensive collaboration with the city and the Chase Center will result in significant use of public transit; nevertheless, many patrons will choose to drive, resulting in increased traffic congestion during the evening peak-commute hours,” said Amit Kothari, interim director of UCSF Transportation Services. “To minimize any negative impact on the UCSF community, we have developed communication tools and resources that will help everyone better navigate the streets of Mission Bay.”

The ETA.ucsf.edu website, which recently launched, provides a two-month calendar alerting anyone traveling to Mission Bay of impending traffic congestion. On red days, you can expect major delays as the new Chase Center is having an event with more than 10,000 attendees or there are events at both the Chase Center and Oracle Park with similar start times or there are events at either arena in conjunction with other Mission Bay activity.
