More than 1,000 employees who are scheduled to work at the new UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay were treated to a special employees-only event on Dec. 3.
The celebration included games, entertainment, and tours of the new UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, UCSF Bakar Cancer Hospital and UCSF Betty Irene Moore Women’s Hospital.

The purpose of the Employee Celebration was to thank all of the employees who have worked tirelessly to make the new UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay a reality. Hospital leaders were thrilled to give their staff the opportunity to visit the new facilities before they open their doors to the public.
“We just completed another major milestone in the opening of the new hospitals,” said Mark R. Laret, chief executive officer of the UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, as he thanked his employees.
UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay is on track to open on February 1, 2015. UCSF received its “Certificate of Occupancy” from the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development eight days ahead of schedule. Now work is underway to furnish and equip the buildings. Meanwhile clinical staff are preparing for three days of full dress rehearsals to be ready for incoming patients when the new children's, women's, and cancer hospitals open.
