UCSF 2.0: Conversation Continues on Inside UCSF
As UC San Francisco marks 150 years since its start as a medical college in 1864, the University is looking ahead at how it will continue to lead the next revolutions in health, education and science in the next decade and beyond.
UCSF is engaged the campus community to help shape the future in a strategic and inclusive planning exercise known as UCSF 2.0, a multiyear effort to identify opportunities to transform education, research and health care.
UCSF Sets Future Vision
► Creating Transformative Partnerships
► Bringing Precision to Health
► Converting Data to Knowledge, Insight and Action
All the ideas, ranging from grandiose to granular, generated from UCSF 2.0 have been categorized into six themes or “innovation zones” relevant to UCSF by the planning firm Institute for the Future.
These areas of innovation are:
- Create distinctive new partnerships to advance human health
- Convert data to knowledge, understanding, insight and action
- Bring precision to the full spectrum of research and health
- Catalyze citizen empowerment and engagement
- Build and enhance a transformative culture and environment
- Reinvent learning and education
Now that the findings of UCSF 2.0 have been identified, UCSF leaders want to keep the conversation about UCSF's future going. What do you think about UCSF’s innovation priorities? How do you fit into these visions for the future?
Over the next five months, Inside UCSF will post one big idea to the Inside UCSF blog. Faculty, staff and students with a UCSF email account are welcome to comment in the section below every blog post.
UCSF 2.0 INNOVATION AREA NO. 1
CREATE TRANSFORMATIVE PARTNERSHIPS TO IMPROVE HEALTH
No single institution can address the next decade's health, research and education challenges on its own. As players from a wide range of industries continue to venture into these health and health care areans, it will be imperative for uCSF to form new partnerships to address familiar health challenges in creative, novel ways. To accelerate innovation and learning, UCSF must amplify its network of collaborators and build a reputation as the convener of great innovators.
CONSIDER THE FUTURE POSSIBILITIES:
What if UCSF leads the creation of a Bio Silicon Valley?
What if UCSF catalyzes a movement o make the Bay Area the healthiest region in the world?
What if UCSF pioneers a UC-wide health partnership?
What if UCSF leads the development of an integrated health system across the Bay Area?
