MEDIA ADVISORY: UCSF Hosts Free Adult and Children's Dental Screening at Cesar Chavez Festival

What: UCSF will offer free adult and children’s dental screenings at the Cesar Chavez Festival where there will be music, entertainment and arts & crafts. UCSF dental school residents will perform the screenings and apply fluoride varnishes to prevent cavities. Residents will also provide free dental education and referrals to the UCSF Dental Center where all public dental insurance is accepted. No appointment is necessary and screenings will take approximately 15 minutes.

When: Saturday April 12, 2014
12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Where: 24th Street between Treat St. and Bryant St.

Why: Early detection is key to diagnosing potential tooth decay, which remains one of the most common diseases. By age 17, more than 7 percent of children have lost a permanent tooth to decay.
