Health Care Disparities Research Showcased During UCSF Annual Diversity Celebration

The first-ever UCSF symposium focusing solely on health care disparities research unveiled the impact of race and ethnicity in health care research findings. Six researchers shared their findings with faculty, students and staff, who gathered in Cole Hall for the symposium, which was part of UCSF's annual diversity celebration. The event was organized by diversity celebration co-chairs Robert Baron, MD, and Michael Adams, along with Karen Newhouse, Barbara Gerbert, PhD, Eliseo Pérez-Stable, MD, and Victor Y. Fujimoto, MD. The topics ranged from the importance of race and genetics in biomedical research to body mass images in Mexican telenovelas.
