Free educational and inspirational program for cancer patients and survivors September 9 & 10

WHAT: Members of the public are invited to a free two-day program titled “Cancer as a Turning Point, From Surviving to Thriving.” The event is designed to educate, inspire, celebrate and connect anyone touched by cancer or other life-altering illness.
This national program, being held for the first time in San Francisco, will include presentations by authors, physicians, performers, musicians and humorists, all aimed at helping people strengthen their healing potential and ability to thrive.
WHO: Open to cancer patients, survivors and their family and friends, health care professionals and the general public. The event is co-sponsored by the UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center and Healing Journeys, a non-profit organization based in Sacramento.
Presenters include Laura Esserman, MD, director of the Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center at UCSF, and renowned authors Judith Orloff, MD, and Michel Lerner, PhD. Performances by the Araceli Theatre Project, Sacramento Taiko Dan, a multi-cultural group of taiko drummers, and juggler Scott Burton.
