Archive: Obesity & Starvation on KQED Forum
On Tuesday, August 15, KQED-FM's Forum with Michael Krasny assesses a recent hypothesis on obesity, and how sugar may trigger a starvation reaction in the brain. Michael Krasny's guest for the hour is Robert Lustig, MD, author of the theory, which was published last week in Nature Clinical Practice: Endocrinology & Metabolism. Lustig is professor of clinical pediatrics, and director of the Weight Assessment for Teen and Child Health (WATCH) Program at UCSF's Children's Hospital. Links: Listen to the program here.
