Media invited to live reading of letters between patients and students on June 20 at UCSF

WHAT:  “The Way of Constant Grace,” an adaptation featuring a live reading of letters that were exchanged this year between critically ill patients and UCSF medical and nursing students.

Throughout the year, the pen pals correspond with one another in letters written in long-hand and do not meet until year end. The results are dramatic, often emotionally-charged letters as adults tell stories of their struggles, their hopes and fears, while the medical students empathize and learn what it feels like to cope with a serious illness.

WHO:  Participants include adult patients coping with life-threatening illnesses, such as AIDS and cancer, and UCSF medical and nursing students.

“The Way of Constant Grace,” is a program that is part of the annual Firefly Project, a project of the UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Art for Recovery program.
