"Women, Poverty and HIV" is focus

The UCSF Women’s Global Health Imperative (WGHI) will sponsor its sixth annual International Women’s Day briefing on March 8. 

The event will focus on the importance of incorporating measures to address both poverty and gender inequities into efforts to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Stephen Lewis, United Nations Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa, will deliver the keynote address and Dr. Kim Mulvihill, CBS 5 HealthWatch reporter, will MC the event. Rutendo Kashambwa, a young Zimbabwean woman, will discuss the challenges faced by young people growing up today in Zimbabwe.

The UCSF WGHI is a program of the AIDS Research Institute, Center for Excellence in Women’s Health, Center for Reproductive Health Research and Policy, and Global Health Sciences.
