UCSF cardiology staff to train in virtual surgery lab

WHAT:  UCSF Medical Center cardiology residents and fellows will receive training in new heart device therapies in two virtual surgical implant labs housed in an 80-foot long semi-trailer.  The truck serves as a mobile education unit and is operated by medical device company Medtronic, Inc.  Each lab is equipped with advanced simulation systems that residents and fellows will utilize to practice implanting the new devices as they would in a real patient. 

WHO:  UCSF cardiology residents and fellows. 
Jeffrey Olgin, MD, chief of the Cardiac Electrophysiology and Arrhythmia Service at UCSF Medical Center, will be available to answer questions about the training.

WHERE:  Crissy Field parking facility
Corner of Scott Street and Marina Green, San Francisco

WHEN:  Tuesday, August 9
  10 AM - Noon : Dr. Jeff Olgin available for interviews at the van.
  4:30 - 6:30 PM: Residents and fellows train in the virtual labs.
