Lorna Fernandes, senior public information representative at UCSF, manages media relations for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals overall and is the point person for day-to-day media stories for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland.
She has more than 25 years of experience in news reporting and communications, starting as a reporter at the LA Times, San Francisco Chronicle and San Francisco Business Times. After covering tech and business as a reporter, Lorna moved into communications for tech companies, including PeopleSoft, Oracle and Sybase. She went on to work with Brown & Toland and with Kaiser Permanente, before her previous position managing media relations for Alameda Health System. Lorna holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from San Francisco State University.
