What is the AIDS Action Network?

Example content imageThe AIDS Action Network is the only all campus student AIDS advocacy group with the involvement of student from medicine, pharmacy, nursing, and dental schools. Our program has three main branches including: 1) Global Action, 2) Social Activism, and 3) Community Outreach.

Our Mission:

Our goal is to bring together socially minded students from the various schools at UCSF in order to create a place of discourse and awareness of HIV and AIDS related issues as well as promote action based activities throughout the campus. The AIDS Action Network supports fighting inequalities, increasing access, and facilitating change for marginalized populations affected by HIV and AIDS.

We strongly support the combination of attaching education to action. As students, we believe that it is important to discuss our role in the larger picture of activism and how we, as a group, can take action through our projects.

We plan to work in an interdisciplinary fashion and begin collaborations between the various health science schools. Our goal is to create a community of students who are interested in HIV and AIDS related issues in order to coordinate projects that are more effective in creating change and increasing education.
